Regain control of your internet time

I recently decided I was wasting too much time online, and that surfing the net was my way of procrastinating. I needed to find a way to protect myself from myself! After some more surfing : ) I came across Internet Access Controller and downloaded the trial. I had downloaded several other similar programs, but their main emphasis was more net nanny, rather than the time and site control of this program.

I set up the program on my PC and allowed myself only 3 clear hours per day for unrestricted net time, 2 hours being after 7pm. What I have found in just a few days is that even though I have the admin password and can alter the schedule, I am still sticking to the routine. During "restricted" time, I added a host of sites to be blocked, things like e-bay, MSN, yahoo etc, basically any site, forum or service I liked to frequent. I can still use the net for work, but during work time the temptation to "kill some time" is gone.

I have found myself being FAR more productive, both at work, and at home. I've picked up my hobbies again, and am feeling much better about being in control of my time. I bought the full program after only a few days, I was that impressed. It is so simple and user friendly, and I quickly worked out the various features. Personally I just use a set schedule and block sites, but there are a host of other options, including a clever timer that you can set to boot you off in a set time. "Just an hour" really becomes just that!

My next step, just to enforce my new system will to have a friend or neighbour set the admin password, and that way I can't easily just hop on and give myself another hour here and there. I will get used to it!

I figure we survived for a long time without the net, and cutting back can only be a good thing for my real world. Want to regain control personally, or at your work or with the kids? This program is the best one I was able to find, and was well worth the paltry money it costs to purchase.
